What surface finishes are available for raw stainless steel plate?
Use this table to understand the different material finishes available from our stainless steel mills.
Material Finish | Description |
---|---|
Mill | A matte blue grey finish with coarse surface texture produced by "hot rolling" at the steel mill. (Hot Rolled Annealed and Pickled (HRAP)). |
2B | Smooth, reflective grey surface produced by "cold rolling" at the steel mill. |
35 µin Ra | Surface ground (final step of 150-180 Grit). Surface finish is a maximum of 35 µin Ra (0.89µm Ra) |
20 µin Ra | Surface ground (final step of 220-240 Grit). Surface finish is a maximum of 20 µin Ra (0.51µm Ra) |
14 µin Ra | Surface ground (final step of 220-240 Grit). Surface finish is a maximum of 14 µin Ra (0.36µm Ra) |
14 µin Ra | Surface ground (final step of 320 Grit). Surface finish is a maximum of 10 µin Ra (0.25µm Ra) |
